If I have to cook, its not about the intrinsic satisfaction of cooking, its a chore.

I *do* like to bake though. I wish I had a logical and quantifiable explanation. I think maybe, if there were no ramifications (getting fat), I would rather eat baked goods and chocolate any day, over a bowl of carrots.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8581890848051609503.post-23066991695796221942009-08-23T12:48:17.945-04:002009-08-23T12:48:17.945-04:00Hee. Crazy.

Another suggestion to your list (although living in France for a few months does sound awfully sweet) might be to try a "cooking for one" class. I tried it a few years ago (pre-FIMS) and made some good friends from the single crowd. It was a hoot, not just because of the fellow "chefs", but because it taught me how to cook a meal for one (or two if you like leftovers) that was satisfying and healthy. I also learned how to freeze food so that if I made enough for an army I could freeze it in smaller bathces. I, too, became tired of Lean Cuisine and Stouffers but it's so convenient to heat something up. So freeze your own!

Ok, gotta go have a nibble of something. Your post about your mom's bread made me hungry! :)Amanda Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09609385967405629723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8581890848051609503.post-54817863245663707632009-08-23T12:45:27.368-04:002009-08-23T12:45:27.368-04:00My vote would be cast for the food trip to France ...My vote would be cast for the food trip to France or Italy! Your story is so familiar to mine--my mother didn't enjoy cooking, or baking, so I never really learned how to cook, and as a single woman living alone, I can't be bother taking the time to shop for, prepare and cook the ingredients for a complicated meal for myself. I, like you, enjoy good food, but I want someone else to prepare it. Cooking is an art,and I would rather spend my time with other creative pursuits, which means that President's Choice will always have a home in my kitchen.Forest City Fashionistahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04428940427287921203noreply@blogger.com
